The East Coast of Tasmania is THE place to go on this island if you wish to get away from it all, put your feet up and completely unwind from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The fact that life in Tassie is already pretty chilled means that a trip up the East Coast will leave you almost comatose you’ll be so relaxed.
For my birthday weekend a little while ago, Gemma being the awesome human she is, booked us in to stay at The Shepherd’s Cottage in Little Swanport. It’s the kind of place that you think of when you imagine “quaint as f**k rustic cottage in the countryside”. It’s the kind of place where a cheesy Hollywood romantic love movie would be set where a the main character moves into a cottage for a few weeks to find themselves, write a book and just go off grid for a while. So in other words, it’s pretty much the perfect weekend getaway.
You get access to your own little slice of heaven with a beautiful beach and reef within a stone’s throw of the property. You could also take a walk along the river, gazing at the swans as they float on by or the sheep as they munch on the grass around you. You could grab your fishing rod and stand in the surf, catching dinner. You could grab your kayak and go for a paddle as the sun sets or you could just curl up on the couch with a good book and melt into a state of perfect calm. Man I should write cheesy brochures or something!
Little Swanport is a great base to explore the rest of the delights on offer on the East Coast but I’ll get to that in the next post….
Looks wonderful. And appears to have become sepia-toned😜
Yeah I’m still playing around with colour grading and tweaking here and there. Still a bit yellow for sure 😐
Wow. If ever you want to draw people to this “quaint as f**k rustic cottage in the countryside,” you won’t have to write a single word — as your gorgeous photos will do all the convincing. Thank you for whisking me away from my gray office cubicle for a few minutes and into this otherwordly beauty. And please tell Gemma that Heide in Minnesota says, “Well done!” 🙂
Absolutely stunning photos!!! Wow, I want to go… Thanks for sharing! Oh, and Happy Belated Birthday!!
Thanks Jessica, Tassie is a stunning place.
